Sustainable Development - what it really means: Sustainable development means learning how to live within the Earth's finite resources whilst preserving and enriching the fabric of our society. This in turn means sharing these limited resources fairly.
Terms like 'sustainable growth' conceal the reality of a destructive business-as-usual approach. At present nearly all development decisions are determined by what is deemed to be economic. If there is no profit for the backers then it doesn't happen. Sustainable development accepts the fact that people want things that are un-economic. It puts people and progress before profit.
An illusion of progress is created by manipulating language. Real progress will be delivered with green economics.
Sustainable Development - the Path to Progress: If we want real progress, as a society we must choose to take those actions today that will best provide both for ourselves and future generations. This is what sustainable development is all about, what green politics is all about and it is the path to real progress.
